AUGUST Newsletter 2021

33 August Newsletter Header.jpg

The last few weeks have been challenging and uncertain, and like everyone we are unsure what will be happening over the next few weeks. While construction sites are currently closed in the ACT, one of our projects at The Canberra Hospital has been deemed essential so we have moved our available resources to this project while taking the recommended precautions and following the latest relevant guidelines. It is our priority to do everything we can to keep ourselves, each other, our clients and the community safe and healthy.

We are keeping a close eye on developments and will act appropriately following advice from the Australian and ACT Government. If the situation at Wainwright Facades changes, we will let you know ASAP. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.

Meet an architect - Hugh Cowan

We believe in supporting and promoting connections in our community, so we have decided to introduce you to some of the incredible architects and designers we have had the privilege of working with.

Name: Hugh Cowan

Where do you work: COX Architecture in the Canberra office.

What did you want to be when you grew up: As a kid I think I wanted to be a pro rugby player, but that dream died out pretty quick! In high school I always loved design technology and technical drawing so Architecture seemed like the right choice.

Something you have always wanted to learn: I love the idea of being able to speak another language. I’m currently learning to speak French.

What are you currently listening to / reading: Currently reading Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami

Question you get asked the most at work: How long will that take?

Favourite part of the job: Being able to work on a project that will have a positive impact on the community. Many of the buildings that we work on will stand for years to come and have a substantial presence in our city. It’s a great feeling being able to contribute to these works.

Tree Donations - Wellington Architectural.jpg

Thank You Wellington architectural

We would like to say a big thank you to Wellington Architectural who have matched our donation of 100 trees for the month of August.

“We are a Canberra based company specialising in prefabricated, design-flexible timber cladding panels. In an age where climate change and environmental credentials are important community values, Wellington Architectural is committed to using sustainably grown timber from certified Australian suppliers to manufacture our products. Certification helps consumers make environmentally responsible purchasing decisions. A certification system provides independent verification that environmental and sustainable forestry standards are being met.

Another way we can offset timber being used in our products is to plant more trees. We are proud to partner with Wainwright Facades this month for such a worthy cause.”

If you would like to be part of our tree planting program and match one of our monthly donations in 2021 please get in touch or find more information here.
