DECember Newsletter 2022

44 December Newsletter Header.jpg

The end of 2022 and we are done and dusted for another year. What a year it was at Wainwright Facades! It was a slower start to the year as we tried to wrap up projects that started during Covid, but since then we have accelerated and have doubled in size. We cannot thank everyone enough who has supported us through Covid and out the other side and we can’t wait to get started again in the new year.

INDIA VICTORS IN GRUDGE MATCH

The first week of December saw an indoor cricket game between the companies Indian contingent and a team made up from the rest of the world. It was an intense affair as the RoW captain, Evan White, won the toss and decided to have a bowl. The Indian opening batsman Seban James and Aman Gill got off to a quick start hitting many boundaries, although fast bowling from Matty Cole and Evan White, kept them honest. Team India went on to hit 116. A notable mention must go to Brady Rodda who managed a no look run out whilst commanding the wicket keeping gloves.

Rest of the World came into bat and were also very strong. Nick Jasprizza and Joe Wainwright dominated the Indian bowling attack in particular Mahesh Pillai who struggled to find line and length for the middle order but it wasn’t enough to guide them to victory. After many disputed wide deliveries and the game coming to a halt several times. There is a re-match clause which will see the teams play again with an independent umpire and scorer.

After 3-4 days of arguments back at work, the team is now getting along great again with the agreement of ‘no one is allowed to talk about cricket’ until we play again.

PROJECT COMPLETION

December saw the completion of our cladding rectification project on the Kingston Foreshore for Project Coordination. The project saw us replace hail damaged zinc panels with new VM Zinc panels. We also replaced the substrate to ensure cladding going back on was compliant. This complex project was due to be finished in February 2023, when it was originally programmed but we have managed to complete it two months ahead of schedule with the great organisational skills of PCA’s project manager Austin Miller.

We look forward to hopefully working with PCA next year on new and exciting projects.

OVER 6000 TREES

This year we have donated a further 1036 trees to our overall tally, taking us to 6,202 trees in total. We had three companies match our donations for January, February & March of 100 trees each. Thanks to MGI Joyce Dickson, CK Architecture & Mitchell Insurance.

Then weekly contributions from our employees made up the rest of the donations. Nick Jasprizza donated 100 trees this year taking his total tally to 220 trees. Matty Cole donated 102 trees this year taking his total to 228 and Joe Wainwright donated 136 trees this year taking his total to 316 trees. We would like to thank Carbon Positive Australia for doing all the hard work.
